We started Fred the Guide because we believe that everyone should have access to the vast natural areas Central Florida has to offer. While Fred the Guide offers something for everyone, our specialty is getting people into the great outdoors who want to hike, kayak, camp, etc. but are unsure of their skill level. During our outings, Fred will coach you on the basic skills of the activity, navigation, flora and fauna, and anything that builds your confidence to Get Outside More.
Check out our website and choose one of our hikes or kayak trips. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, contact us for a customized adventure.
Fred relocated to Central Florida in 2016 after 27 years in law enforcement, retiring as a Captain with the Broward County Sheriffs Office. After retiring, he volunteered at Catalina State Park in Arizona, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan, and Yosemite National Park in California.
As part of Fred's various responsibilities he led visitor hikes on a variety of trails. Fred was a volunteer leader with the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, planning multiple hiking, kayaking and camping trips.
Fred has first aid training including a current CPR certification, and his hiking experience includes the Appalachian Trail, Florida Trail, North Country Trail, and various trails throughout the United States and Portugal. Fred is an avid kayaker and has paddled almost every waterway in Florida.
